This course will examine the political, economic, social, and cultural evolution of world civilizations from 1500 to the present. Each week’s lesson will address different themes that help promote a better understanding of how various historical forces directed the course of civilizational development and global interconnections. Readings, discussions, and assignments will explore the individuals, societies, conflicts, and decisions that came to shape the world as it is known today. (This course may be used to satisfy the global perspective requirement for general education credit.)
