Skills: This course will emphasize understanding of problems rather than mere manipulation of numbers or equations. Basic computer skills and use of the Internet will be required to attend the online lecture and submit written assignments, quizzes, and tests. In this course, discovering alternate ways of solving problems will be encouraged.
Values: By the use of problems and examples related to real-life situations, students will be lead to a greater appreciation of the importance of mathematics in the world and in their lives.
Knowledge: In this course students will learn basic concepts of algebra and trigonometry, enabling them to pursue higher courses in mathematics. Regular exams and quizzes will be given to evaluating their knowledge.
